CITY OF KILGORE RESCINDS BOIL WATER NOTICE

KilgoreTexas, February 23, 2021– On February 17, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Kilgore, PWS 0920003, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of February 23, 2021.

The water system is operating at full capacity and operating pressures and is therefore moving into Stage 1 of the Water Conservation Plan which encourages mindful stewardship of your water, down from Stage 3 which required mandatory compliance.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact the Director of Public Works, Clayton R. Evers, P.E. at 903-988-4118 or clay.evers@cityofkilgore.com.

Citizens may also experience discolored water as water had settled in lines over the last week.  The water should clear by flushing your lines.  City crews will also be undertaking flushing over the next week to maintain water quality.

Citizens are encouraged to report water issues, as well as any other items, by using the “MyKilgore” app which can be accessed through the City’s webpage or downloaded to your mobile device.
