Right of Way

The Right-of-Way (ROW) area includes the roadway, curb and gutter (if present), grass strip, and sidewalk (if present), and most often extends multiple feet beyond the back of curb.

The City ROW is also where most utilities are buried. Because of this, all digging or construction work done in the Right-of-Way must have a utility locate called in and may also require a permit.

Right-of-Way widths may vary from street to street therefore it is recommended that you contact the Engineering Department to verify ROW location and width.
