The goal of Kilgore Fire Marshal’s Office fire inspection program is to minimize risk of life and property loss from fire. We do this by eliminating hazardous conditions in businesses. The mission is to ensure these facilities meet the established standards for fire and life safety provided for in promulgated rules and/or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and other codes adopted by the City of Kilgore.
In addition to education and/or informational activities, the Fire Department personnel also conduct Life Safety Survey Inspections in every commercial property annually. Personnel use the inspection process primarily to educate the business community in a personal format while also identifying hazards in order to gain code compliance and minimize the occurrences of fire. Residential Rental Property Inspections are also performed by Fire Department personnel.
Inspections performed yearly include public assemblies, educational facilities, day-care facilities, residential care facilities, multiple-unit residential buildings, nursing homes and other institutional facilities that are required by the State.

Plan review and inspections are conducted on all new construction, additions, or remodels on all commercial occupancies. In addition oil and gas wells, tank batteries, and all other appurtenances are inspected for code compliance within the City Code of Ordinances.
