No Welcome for Drug Traffickers in Kilgore

In May of 2011 the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) joined in the efforts of local law enforcement agencies, the Kilgore Police Department and the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, to bring down a methamphetamine trafficking organization. The organization was responsible for the purchasing, selling and distribution of large quantities of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) in the Kilgore and Rusk County Areas.

Kilgore Police Save Person Trapped in Burning Car

This in turn began to discharge shotgun and handgun ammunition which was stored in the trunk. Disregarding the dangers involved, Officers attempted to extract Mr. Chadwick from the vehicle several times but were unsuccessful. Officer Sims and Corporal Terry Linder were able to control the fire with fire extinguishers while Sergeant Jarod Sears and Officer Middlebrooks spoke with the pinned driver to keep him calm. The rescue effort was also aided by Off -Duty Longview Police Officer Alexander Chorba along with Trooper Russell Steelman.

Nationwide Test of Emergency Alert System

The test will take place on November 9, 2011 at 1:00pm. The test is anticipated to last approximately three minutes. The test will involve all communications service providers such as broadcast radio, television, cable television, satellite radio and television and wire line video services who participate in the EAS.
