Investigation continues into the shooting incident in the 1900 block of West State Highway 31. Investigators have utilized additional resources from the Alert Academy and the Texas DPS Dive Team to search for additional evidence. The Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences has completed the autopsies on Elizabeth Vinson and Randy Vinson and copies of the preliminary findings are attached with this press release.
Officers from both agencies as well as Texas DPS responded to the call, a residence at 1922 Hwy 31 West, Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas. As the first officer arrived, a female gunshot victim was located in a vehicle at the residence. Information was established the suspect had fled into a wooded area and was still armed. Initial responding officers encountered the armed suspect on a bridge just east of the residence on State Highway 31.
The Kilgore Police Department will host a Child Safety Seat Check and Child ID Fingerprinting this Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm in the Wal-mart parking lot, 1201 Stone St., Kilgore Texas.
The Kilgore Police Department maintains two Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians who provide free, hands-on, car seat education and inspections during the event. The goal is to make sure all parents and caregivers are correctly securing all children in the right car restraint (rear-facing car seat, forward-facing car seat, booster seat or seat belt) for their ages and sizes.
Upon arrival, an employee at the recycling center told police officers two masked men had just entered the business and robbed him of a large amount of cash. One of the two men pointed a hand gun at him and the other tied him up. The two suspects then fled the scene by stealing the employee’s vehicle. The employee was able to make his way to another business in the area in order to notify the police.

Two entered and one pointed a handgun at the store clerk. The clerk was forced to open the register and fill a bag with cash and tobacco products. All three fled the scene and the clerk was left unharmed.
