Independence Day historically ranks as one of the deadliest holiday periods for Texas roadways due to alcohol related crashes. If you choose to drink and drive, within the City of Kilgore, you will go to jail. The Kilgore Police Department maintains a zero tolerance policy in regards to DWI enforcement. Drunk driving is not a choice it’s a crime. During the STEP wave KPD will also practice “No Refusal.” This means if you are stopped for drunk driving and refuse to provide a blood or breathe specimen, an immediate search warrant will be sought and a blood specimen obtained through the warrant.
