The front door to the business was torn from the building and a number of rifles and pistols had been stolen. Initial investigation revealed a stolen Maroon GMC single cab pickup had been used to pull off the door.

Initial investigation revealed traffic was stopped on the roadway due to another crash when a 1997 Chevrolet Pickup crashed into the rear of a stopped vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet Pickup.

Train Fatality

Union Pacific train personnel reported the train was traveling east when they observed a person walking on the tracks. The person was facing away from the train also traveling east. The train conductor sounded the horn four to five times in an attempt to warn the person to leave the tracks. The person never acknowledges the horn in any way.

Initial investigation revealed a 2016 Ford Van failed to yield the right of way due to a stop sign and entered the intersection. A 2005 Nissan traveling south struck the Ford Van. The Ford Van was driven by Donald Jacobs, 49 years of age, of Las Vegas, NV.

KPD Announces Start of Citizen Police Academy 2018

The Academy includes classes on patrol procedures, criminal law, narcotics, search and seizure, tactical operations, investigations, crime scene processing and an inside look at the overall operation of the Kilgore Police Department. The classes will not only consist of classroom presentations but hands-on activities such as investigating a crime scene using modern forensic techniques, police firearms demo, firearms simulator, driving range and a Taser demo. Students also have the “option” to ride with a patrol officer and witness the street-activity our officers encounter on a day-to-day basis.
