Drug Enforcement

The Kilgore Police Department utilizes two of its certified officers for specialized service in drug enforcement, one of which is assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

K-9 Unit

The mission of the Kilgore Police Department Canine Unit is to provide a trained police canine to assist in the prevention and detection of crimes, locating persons sought by the police, the promotion of a favorable public image of the police department, and for such other duties as may be directed by the administration of the Kilgore Police Department.

School Resource

The School Resource Officer program (SRO) is a nationally accepted program involving the placement of a law enforcement officer with the educational environment.  The officer, while in school, is involved in a variety of functions aimed at prevention.  Besides being an active high profile law enforcement officer, the SRO is a resource for students, parents, teachers and administration regarding law enforcement issues.  Working hand in hand with the Principal, the SRO assists with finding solutions to problems affecting students.

The Kilgore Police Department Patrol Unit consists of four sergeants; four corporals, and ten patrol officers including two officers assigned to the K-9 unit. These officers patrol the city of Kilgore in 12 hour shifts by responding to dispatched calls. Their main objective is to protect life and property by enforcing law and order.
