About Our Department

It is the mission of Equipment Services to serve the citizens of Kilgore by meeting the vehicular needs of all city departments. 

It is our goal to repair and maintain the city vehicles and equipment in a timely and cost effective manner.

The City owns and operates 249 vehicles/equipment that is maintained by 3 mechanics.

Staff produces 100 work orders and 200 repairs each month on average. 


What Is That Spot

You go out to get in your vehicle, and as you do you notice a fluid coming from it, or a spot of fluid that had not been there before. What is it? Where did it come from? Is it going to damage my car because it is leaking out? These questions probably do cross your mind, and quite reasonably should cross your mind. It is important that all of the proper fluids are in the vehicle, and at the proper levels. Below are some simple ways to know what it is that could be coming from your vehicle.

Unlawful Disposal of Used Tires or Used Car Batteries

It is illegal to dispose of used automobile or tractor tires in any location that is not with a tire distributor or Solid Waste facility. The penalty range depends on the volume.  Fines are from $50 to $1,000 and 6 months in jail for the first offense and up to $10,000 fine and 2 years in jail for subsequent offenses.
