Public Works Department

Seth Sorensen, Director of Public Works

Seth Sorensen comes to Kilgore as its first-ever Public Works Director, responsible for the oversight of the Parks & Cemetery, Equipment Services, Utilities, and Street Maintenance Departments.  Seth is a civil engineer, holding Professional Engineering certifications in both Wyoming and Illinois.  Mr. Sorenson received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming in May of 2006, and his M.P.A in 2011.  Before coming to Kilgore, Seth served as a Public Works Director in Illinois and as an engineer with the Wyoming Department of Transportation.  


The Public Works Department is a new department resulting in the consolidation of several departments into one which includes Streets, Equipment Services, Parks, Cemeteries, and Utilities (which includes both a water and wastewater treatment plant).  The Public Works Department consists of approximately 45 employees.  The Director of Public Works directs the department through effective planning, staff management, and resource allocation; and assures the effective completion of projects and compliance with state and Federal regulations, City policies, procedures and goals.
