PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Remove existing asphalt overlay, evaluate and repair underlying concrete panels, and install new 2 inch asphalt overlay.

JUSTIFICATION

Based on the existing condition of the N. Kilgore St., available funding, and other street maintenance priorities, the decision was made to rehabilitate Kilgore Street, rather than pursue full reconstruction.  The ultimate vision for Kilgore Street is to replace all existing road surface and curbs, while adding sidewalks and undergrounding the electric utilities.  However, that project is estimated to cost over $3.5 million.  By opting to rehab the existing street, the City will be able to fund maintenance on many miles of streets throughout the City, as well major rehab projects on streets like Danville Road, Cargill, Energy Drive, and the upcoming Higginbotham and Houston reconstruction projects. This project is a collaborative effort between City Crews and Contract Work.

PROJECT UPDATE

The City Construction Crew has completed the concrete slab repairs and an asphalt overlay has been applied.
The N. Kilgore St. Rehabilitation project is now complete.
