CITY OF KILGORE FLOOD DAMAGE

The storms of May 12, 2015 resulted in a 10 year storm event, with a recorded 4.5 inches falling in approximately 5 hours. The severity of this rain event led to flood warnings and flooding in the Rabbit Creek basin, including substantial flooding along Bighead Creek.

City infrastructure, including Meadowbrook Golf Course and Meadowbrook Park, were impacted by high and swift flows, causing minor damage to soccer goals, the loss of a Frisbee golf basket, severe damage to fencing around the dog park, and the loss of a mature tree.

Ongoing rains and saturated ground conditions make it difficult to enter Meadowbrook Park to remedy the damage and a schedule to repair these items is currently unknown.

Both Meadowbrook Golf Course and Meadowbrook Park are open to the public.
